Well, I got held back.

Not really. But we’re probably pretty close to the same age, since I started school early. I have a November birthday, so rather than put me in first grade at age 6, my parents put me in at 5 and I turned 6 while in first grade. Nowadays, they won’t let you do that. At least not in my school district.

Maybe, but I have a September birthday so I started early too. I was 17 when I graduated. My youngest sister is also a September birthday and she started early but my parents had to take her out of kindergarten because she wasn’t ready. Of course her “flunking out” of kindergarten was never used against her by her loving siblings.

I really miss 80s music. I heard all of that on the radio of course, but back then I was listening to The Doors, Led Zeppelin, CSNY, Pink Floyd, etc. I was a bit of a stoner.....

We should have hung out. I had music by all those people you listed and more. And I still listen to it, too. I am a classically trained professional trumpet player, and my father, who is also a professional musician, told me back in the day that I would grow out of that music and stop listening to it. How wrong he was. Even though I make my money playing symphonies and operas and ballets, I don’t listen to that stuff much at all.

Actually, I’m not much of a jazz guy. I dig Chet Baker, and I’m a fan of Clifford Brown, but I don’t listen to much.
